Yep, it's here! XD Another test, but for a different subject. Time for GD again - probably the hardest of my classes in terms of test studying. @_@
Well...
Here we go again! ^_^
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What does DPI stand for?: Dots Per Inch
What does PPI stand for?: Pixels Per Inch
What does LPI stand for?: Lines Per Inch
What is the formula for finding the LPI? Also, what is the formula for doubling the LPI?:
Normal Formula: 1.5 x LPI = PPI
Double Formula: 2 x LPI = PPI
NOTE: to get whatever size you want for your document, add this step: 1.5 x LPI x %(whatever size you want) = result.
Name the basic LPI's, their linescreen and resolution:
Laser printer, copy machine - 65 or 85 linescreen, 130 or 170 resolution.
Commercial Newspaper - 85 to 120 linescreen, 170 to 240 resolution.
Quick-print shop, copy shop - 100 to 120 linescreen, 200 to 240 resolution.
Newsprint magazines - 100 or 120 linescreen, 200 or 240 resolution.
Glossy magazines - 150 linescreen, 300 resolution.
Offset printing - 150 linescreen, 300 resolution.
Display books - 175 linescreen, 350 resolution.
Museum-quality art book - 200 linescreen, 400 resolution.
Name the color modes, their bit depth, their number of channels and their number of colors:
Bitmap(BMP) - 1-bit, 1 channel and 2 colors.
Grayscale - 8-bit, 1 channel and 256 gray colors.
RGB(Red, Green, Blue) - 24-bit, 3 channels and 16.7 million colors.
CMYK(Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) - 32-bit, 4 channels and 16.7 million colors.
Index - 8-bit, 1 channel and 2-256 colors.
What are other file formats for Windows/Macintosh/miscellaneous files?
Macintosh: PICT(short for picture)
Windows: BMP(bitmap), WMF(Windows Metafile).
Other Files: GIF(graphical interchange format), PNG(portable network graphic, pronounced "ping"), JPEG(joint photographic experts group), PDF(portable document format), PostScript or print-to-disk files.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let me take a lunch break and then I'll return. At least this time I've got a couple of days to study this. Last time I only had one day to study. I got a B on the test, an A for the graphic design project. I hope to get the test an A and the next project an A as well. It's hard, but I KNOW I can do this! :] Effort and desire meet success! XD
Well...
Here we go again! ^_^
