Iv been bored lately just making my flash Quest for Balance and decided to make a new kind of RPG/Board game. Iv made plenty of them before and loads of people loved it because it really involved useing your head alot more and it was based off their favourite themes so they always had some background knowledge about it. I had usually based the core rules of strength, speed, etc off 3.5 ED Dungeon's and Dragon rules. The problem with this if I were to apply this to the characters on this forum it would probably get really chaotic and confusing from the get go.
I plan to use the playing rules from the Fire Emblem Series. The good thing about this series was that you had the ability to change your characters form back and fourth adapting your stats to each one. Each of the different kind of stats gave different kinds of benefits and weakenesses which made it a very diversive. Also what made this game alot better was that its like playing with chess but with alot more diverse rules. This makes it very applicable to a forum because you can take turns and it doesn't have to be fast paced like usual RPGs.
An added bonus is that I can produce animated moves and maps and characters in about under a minute minus the preparations of the maps and sprite creation. Also because I plan to use the Fire Emblem rule set this removes the use of having to really slave away at creating sprite sheets because I won't need to create as many sprites for each action a player does which again, reduces time to things such as adding new characters to the game. All and all. It means that it wouldnt take very long for responses and it would be a more active way to RPG together.
I will make the rules simple but still complex enough to be stratagic and build on them.
Oh just for anyones information. Iv made a Resident Evil RPG. Dragon Ball Z RPG. Dragon Ball GT RPG. Each were very succesful on MIRC.

Ill make it clearer when I start it out. It may sound complicated but its like any basic RPG with different style of playing.

I like the idea but I got one problem: No way is Mechanos gonna be able to fit into this. For one he's a machine and I still have yet to find a game that can give me a straight character sheet for a machine (not counting Star Wars since most of the humaniod machines when I played it had less agility than a 90 year old). Second he's got the whole weird thing that he's technically indestructible and you really can only disable hime. Third, does Fire Emblem cover regeneration?
Other than that it sounds like a nifty idea applying stadardized RPG rules to forum battles.

This is basicly the first draft of the core rules for the system. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ a. Creating a Character Sheet - +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
This is the base stats for all characters.
Base stats HP: 15 STR: 10 MAG: 10 SKL: 10 SPD: 10 DEF: 10 RES: 10 MOV: 3 SPD: 10
You pick a user most related to your character. That user will have its stats added onto the base.
You may multi-user. This means you can have two users combined the first known as the Core user and the second known as the secondary user .An example is Land based user + magic user to become a Land based magic user. The core user being Land based and secondary user being magic user.
You must choose one of the users as the characters core user. A characters core user may not change but his Secondary user may change through different methods whether it be story or transformation.
Land based user (LB-U)
HP +2 MAG +2 STR +2 DEF +2 SKL +2 RES +2 MOV +1 SPD +1
Weapon specific user (WS-U)
HP +4 MAG +1 STR +3 SKL +2 DEF +2 RES +0 MOV +1 SPD +1
Ranged User (R-U)
HP +2 MAG +1 STR +1 DEF +3 SKL +2 RES +3 MOV +2 SPD +1
Flying User (F-U)
HP +4 MAG +1 STR +2 DEF +2 SKL +2 RES +1 MOV +1 SPD +2
Magic user (MAG-U)
HP +1 MAG +3 STR +1 DEF +1 SKL +2 RES +3 MOV +2 SPD +1
foot user (SPD-U)
HP +2 MAG +1 STR +2 DEF +1 SKL +1 RES +1 MOV +3 SPD +3
Mecha user (Mech-U)
HP +3 MAG +1 STR +2 DEF +4 SKL +1 RES +1 MOV +0 SPD +1
Move list: You put your moves here and assign to them the type of user ability it is. Your move's user ability is defined by the characteristics of the attack it is. You may only have 3 different move user abilities.
An example is a swordsman normal attack which is called swipe. Swipe is simply swinging the sword at the enemy. This would be defined as a weapon specific user attack because he is useing a sword to attack. each kind of user attack has different abilities to them as well.
LB-U WS-U R-U F-U MAG-U SPD-U MECHA-U You split 40 damage among the 3 moves. so 10 in the first another 10 in the second and 20 in the third. *Note LB-U attacks cannot hit F-U. R-U attacks can be used from over 3 squares max away from enemy but not within 1 square of the enemy. MAG-U can be fired from over 1-2 squares away. It would look something like this. WS-U can destroy certain terrains. SPD-U can attack more then one unit at a time as long as they have MOv left. Special Attacks:
#1 Omni Slash (WS-U) x damage
Regular Attacks:
#1 - Swipe;(WS-U) X damage
#2 - Uppercut;(WS-U) X damage
#3 - STab;(WS-U) X damage
Skill
End looking sheet:
Name: User: Starting stats: HP xx MAG xx STR xx DEF xx SKL xx RES xx MOV xx SPD xx
Special Attacks:
#1 - (-U) x damage Description:
Regular Attacks:
#1 - (-U) x damage Description:
#2 - (-U) x damage Description:
#3 - (-U) x damage Description: Skill:
Move list: Usable abilities: Move list
Description: Character Description
Example Sheet
Name:Liquid Sonic User:Land Base User Starting stats:
HP: 15 STR: 13 MAG: 13 SKL: 13 SPD: 13 DEF: 13 RES: 13 MOV: 4 SPD: 12
physical Damage: +2 Magic Damage: +2 Hit rate: +26% crit rate: +2% Evasion rate: 44% Special Attacks:
#1 - Sonic Storm (F-U) x damage Description:Sonic Storm starts off with LS creating a miniture storm of water in his hand holding it above his head, he next brings it crashing down below his feet consuming him and his enemy while the storm expands rapidly in size and strength. The enemy is sent flying into the sky dazed by the attack then at that moment LS comes bursting out the center of the storm spining clockwise on a normal axis shotting off a more powerful raining barrage in the upwards direction finshing with Liquid Pistol. Regular Attacks:
#1 - Liquid Pistol (R-U) 10 damage Description:LS shoots his arm from a distance with the power of water behind it to give it the added OUCH
#2 - Raining Barrage (LB-U) 10 damage Description: LS jumps into the air and transforms his arms into several balls of water and leaves them hovering just away from his torso. The water balls contain tons of pressure due to being small in size but still big enough to launch a attack of their own. From each small ball Liquid Pistol strikes out faster then normal at rapid speeds for 30 seconds.
#3 - Double Barrel (F-U) 15 damage Description: Allows Liquid Sonic to stretch his arms back and fire them in any direction he desires.
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ b. Stats and Explanations. - +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
HP: Health Points; If it reaches 0 your unit dies and cannot be used again MAG: Magic; damage you deal to opponents but is dependant on resistance also effects Special Power (SP) Magic power (MP) STR: Strength; damage you deal to opponents but is dependant on defence. Every 5 strength is one damage point. DEF: Defence; affects the damage taken from strength-based attacks. every 5 defense is 1 one defense point. SKL: Skill; affects hit rate and critical rate RES: Resistance; affects the damage taken from magic-based attacks every 1 SKL is 2% hit rate. MOV: Movement; affects how far your unit can move. SPD: Speed; affects evasion rate and attack speed (AS), with 4+ more speed than the opponent you can double attack them. +8 you triple and so fourth.
Hit rate: Hit rate orginally is 0% chance to hit whoever you fight. When you attack a unit with an effective attack you gain 35% chance to hit When you attack a unit with an un-effective attack you lose 35% chance to hit Hit rate is boosted by SKL. Every 1 SKl is +2%
Critical rate: critical rate orginally is 7% chance to hit whoever you fight When you attack a unit with an effective attack you gain 25% chance to hit and double damage on hit. When you attack a unit with an un-effective attack you lose 25% chance to hit and deal 1/2 damage. Critical rate is boosted by SKL. Every 5 skl is +1%
Evasion rate: evasion rate is equal to the speed of the character x2. Example is a foot character on the base stats which is a total of 14 speed. He has an evasion rate of 28%. Evasion rate is boosted by SPD Everyone has a base Evasion rate of 20 +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ f. Status Ailments - - +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ An enemy may use a status change on you to affect your users to their advantage. The same can occur when you use a status change on them such as Sleep.
All statuses start at the count of 5 turns. At the start of the character's turn the count reduces by 1. Once the count reaches 0 the character becomes normal status and can act immediately. A unit can have only one status condition at a time. Enemies may overwrite status conditions but you cannot.
POISON Applied from certain traps and weapons. Takes 1-3 (random) damage at the start of your turn.
SLEEP From a "Sleep". Character cannot receive commands and cannot attack. They can dodge. Getting hit does NOT wake them up.
BERSERK From a "Berserk". Character attacks a unit (friend or foe) to which it can deal most damage relative to their HP. They cannot receive commands. Acts exactly like the "attack" AI. Acts after all non-status units.
SILENCE From a "Silence". Cannot use magical abilities.
PETRIFICATION From a Stone. Cannot act on their turn at all. Enemies gain +30% critical when hitting a unit that is petrified.
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ h. Magic type- +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
FIRE LEVEL: C: Attk: +0.5 Hit: +2.5% Avoid: +2.5% Crit: +2.5% B: Attk: +1.0 Hit: +5.0% Avoid: +5.0% Crit: +5.0% A: Attk: +1.5 Hit: +7.5% Avoid: +7.5% Crit: +7.5%

+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ c. Current effective/un-effective table - +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Each user has a strength over another and a weakeness to one. These are what they are.
Land based user > foot user Ranged user > Flying user weapon specific user > ranged user Flying user > magic user Magic user > weapon specific user foot user > Mecha User Mecha user > Land based user
Fire > Ice Wind > Fire Thunder > Wind Darkness > Anima Light > Darkness Anima > Light
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ d. Terrain. Movement and battleing- +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Different terrain gives different bonuses, for example forests.
Throne panels affect only physical defence.
NB: Fliers receive no terrain bonus
Woods, Jungle etc: evasion +20% def +1 sand: evasion +5% mountains: evasion +40% pillars: evasion +20% def +1 Defenses such as barricades walls etc: evasion +30% def +3 sea: evasion +10% mountains: evasion +30% def +1 City, town etc: evasion +10%
Any not mentioned do not give a bonus.
The number of tiles your user can move is the number of his MOV stat.
F-U can move over any Terrain un hindered. (except walls) LB-U cannot cross sea or mountains without some assistance. SPD-U cannot cross sea but can cross mountains. the rest cannot cross sea nor Mountain.
battleing ==========
When you most into attacking range of the enemy you will have to pick a move to fight with.
For example I choose my Liquid Sonic and move him within a 1 sq range of my opponent.
Before I attack my opponent. I must pick one of my moves to use on them. I choose to use Double Barrel. Now my opponent move will be a move which he had used on his last turn. Lets say that move was swipe.
This is how it works.
First I roll 2 100 sided dice or some form of number generator. .What ever that number is I add the Hit ratio.
This is the rates of Liquid Sonic
hp: 19 Phsyical damage: +2 Magic damage: +2 Hit rate: +26% crit rate: +2% Evasion rate: +44%
This is the rates of Enemy
hp: 10 Phsyical damage: +1 Magic damage: +1 Hit rate: +16% crit rate: +1% Evasion rate: +34%
I rolled 2 100 sided dices and I get the numbers 50, and 20.
The first Number will always be the attackers number. and the second the defenders number.
The first number is the attempt to hit the enemy. Or the hit rate
The second number is the attempt of the enemies to avoid your attack. Or the Evasion rate.
You add Liquid Sonics Hit rate to the first number.
50% + 16% = 66%
Then you add the the enemies evasion rate.
20% + 34% = 54%
Liquid Sonic got his hit rate higher then his opponents evasion evasion rate which means he hit him.
now we calculate damage.
The damage of LS double barrel is 15. which is the size of the dice. So we roll a 15 sided dice + LS physical damage. . The number on the 15 sided dice I get is a 10+2 which is 12. 12. This is deducted from my enemies total HP which is -2 meaning my Enemy is defeated.
simple no?
