www.wired.com/gamelife/2011/12/miyamoto-interview/Yep Miyamato is no longer gonna be doing stuff like Zelda and Mario. He's leaving it all up to the younger developers. I just hope they will continue to make some great games like Skyward Sword (which I think Miyamato only had minor input to)

that's a big shame, I think he should have some input into games like Mario and Zelda. Not being a major role in these games dosen't mean he should ignore them all together I mean from what I've seen of Skyward Sword, someone really needed to tell them to ditch the weird emo clown (What the heck were they thinking?!)
I've also heard that Hideo Kojima might be considering leaving the games industry, it's not that strange considering he's opinion on Japanese gaming as of lately although he has said that he dosen't want the Metal Gear Solid franchise to die off without him.
It's a shame that two of the biggest influences in gaming are making these choices, I really hope Mario and Zelda can bring something new to the table and continue to bring out great games (although Mario is slacking off, the guys behind those games should consider making a new IP for Nintendo)

Ghirahim is actually a pretty cool character when you see him a bit more. I would of personally changed Fi, the spirit of the sword, as she is possibly EVEN MORE ANNOYING THEN NAVI.

Awww, I'm going to miss Miyamato--I have enjoyed so much of his work over my lifetime. Then again, he is probably getting on the old side and wants to at last relax. I could understand that if that's the case. :3
And I agree--I hope Nintendo will survive well without him, and continue to improve the quality of their games. I'm playing Skyward Sword still, and I am immensely loving the characters: including Ghirahim, as his cruelty outweighs his appearance. Just goes to say... You can never judge a book by its cover! The guy is a real menace so far and I'm just past the 3rd temple so to speak.
Mario games I've always loved, but even I have my problems with, say, Super Mario Galaxy and the like--just found them, despite beautiful graphics, too childish. Would be a great game for young players, but I want some (though not really Mario's style) a little bit more heavy action in the storyline. They could totally do it. Some old-style classic goodness with a badass Bowser/or other villain and all heroic Mario. ^^
...They should re-vamp Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. In new graphics and possibly some new gameplay. Keep story, though--that was amazing. I'd fall down and cry if they ever did. Omg, love that game. XD *spazzes*
Anyway... Yeah. Nintendo should keep it up. Keep going. Get even better. :3

See? We as an older audience know what we want! Now, Nintendo just needs to target us as their main consumer and make games we like. I mean, the older generation still loves Mario, and Zelda, and Sonic as well. We just need the teenage+ experience for our games, that's all. :3
Which Skyward Sword is doing rather well with! ^^ I am impressed, and excited!

Has anyone seen like, the intro movie for Mario Strikers Charged? My gosh, I never thought Mario could look badass until I saw that. Personally though, I saw pretty much all the Zelda games are worth playing - With the exception of Link's Adventure, or whatever that 2D platformer one was (Seriously, were they high?). Personally though, I'd like to see them use some of the REALLY awesome villains they had on the Gameboy games - Ones like Veran, or Vaati. They'd be great in 3D. As I've said before, at least better than fighting Ganon/Ganondorf EVERY GAME.

Just so you know technically Gannondorf/Ganon is not in Skyward sword. Also, Ghirahim makes a truly epic villian. He's sadistic, entertaining and tough to fight at points.
"I'll make your ears bleed from the sound of your own screams."
"I won't kill you, i'll just beat you to within an inch of your life."
Also, it almost seems like he is in denial blaming the sword for Link's victory and not Link every time.

Yeah, great writing, but the character design for him is terrible - A villain needs to LOOK good as well as sound good. I mean... He literally looks like a gay emo clown. Nothing against gay emo clowns, but I don't find them terribly threatening.
Maybe if they'd made him more sinister, less weird, then, y'know.
... Funny enough, he seems to have the opposite problem to Zant. Zant LOOKED great, but was a disappointment due to him behaving like Woody Woodpecker.
Oh, and THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THOSE STILL PLAYING SKYWARD SWORD:
I ain't played the game, but one of my friends basically informed me that the main villain of Skyward Sword (The real main villain) basically gets reincarnated as Ganondorf, so yeah. Even in the Prequel before Ganondorf was born, Ganondorf still finds a way to be the main villain. I'm... Not even surprised anymore. They would've brought in the Delorean if is meant bringing in their favourite villain.
I mean, Mario, it sort of works with him fighting Bowser all the time, because it's not meant to be taken seriously - Besides, the spin-off ones have him fighting awesome foes like Smithy, The Shadow Queen, Cackletta, Fawful and Count Bleck. And whilst Legend of Zelda is and always will be better than Mario, I can't help but feel that they're just not trying. Like they mistake gimmicks for new concepts.
I mean, the puzzles are great, and the games are always engaging, but for some reason, they always come up short of brilliant.
As such, its possible that Miyamoto moving away could actually be a GOOD thing. Now, before you brandish your pitchforks, think about it: Mario and Legend of Zelda have both been lagging a bit lately, in contrast to video games like Uncharted and recent release Skyrim, which completely trumped Skyward Sword in sales. Perhaps, with new leadership, these games might actually start becoming good enough to warrant an audience outside of the Nintendo fanbase. More dramatic storylines, better villains, improved gameplay - And maybe boss whose weakness is a little more subtle than just hitting them repeatedly in the eyeball. Yeah, I'm looking at you Gohma.
Overall, it's sad to see these people go, but everyone's gotta remember that there's a chance things could get better for this.

MAJOR SPOILERS
I would say that Demise as a villian is better then Gannondorf or Gannon. He was certainly harder to beat and the idea of him being so powerful that he can break free of powerful seals is quite interesting. Also, the way it ends with him going: my hatred is never ending, no matter how many times you beat me an incarnation of me will return to face the ones who possess the soul of a goddess and the soul of a hero explains why Ganon keeps coming back in newer forms each with their own unique traits. It is possible, going by the game, that he as an entity exists outside of time (much like the FOUR goddesses) and thus keeps coming back.
Also, although Ghirahim does look a bit weird I think the way they portray him is truly excellent and I enjoyed it throughly. Not everyone's cup of tea perhaps, but as sword spirits go i'd rather see more of him and less of Fi. Also his final form is pretty cool even if it is just a dark version of Fi
END SPOILERS
Zelda was taken in a newer direction with this game and seemed to be influenced by other games like Metroid (for the backtracking). It is possible without Miyamato at the helm that it will continue to flourish because Skyward Sword as a game is easily one of the best, if not THE best, Zelda game in my opinion. The story is more coherent and its less: go to these places and get an item and more I'm trying to find something and it just so happens i have to go through these places to try and find it. Plus a lot of the outer dungeon stuff is quite fun, much more fun then Hyrule Field.

The problem with Mario and Zelda is that while their great games they tend to follow the same concept with every single title. The reason other gamers tend to go to the PS3 or the 360 is that you get a wide range of gaming experiances. There's so much choice but with Nintendo's consoles you have the basic games they've always released.
It wouldn't be a problem if Nintendo gave gamers the same choices that Sony and Microsoft do but they don't and I think it's caused Nintendo to lose a lot of potential sales. If Nintendo can market the Wii-U right and if it actually does have the power to play games PS3 and 360 plays then it could be just what Nintendo needs. Although I think the controller will be it's major letdown (WHY NINTENDO, WHY?!)
Nintendo have a habit of not doing something just because their rivals do it and actually sometimes that can be a bad thing.

Personally, I was not disappointed in the SLIGHTEST with Skyward Sword. I won't blab on forever, but it tied into the other games perfectly and I loved it. Every minute of it. :3
So...
I just hope Nintendo will immensely improve. And, now, I have the best of all worlds: I have a Wii, and my sister has an Xbox and PS3. I can play whatever I want now. ^^

Well hopefully the Wii-U is a sign that Nintendo will begin going into other types of games the console has been lacking for some time
