Sony revealed their answer to Super Smash Bros Brawl this week. The guys at Playstation Lifestyle had a sneak preview at the game and made two articles talking about the game. Unfortunately photobucket is being annoying so I can't upload any pictures but if you want to see what it looks like here's the links to Playstation Lifestyle Preview: playstationlifestyle.net/2012/04/27/ps3-preview-playstation-all-stars-battle-royale/Screens and Trailer: playstationlifestyle.net/2012/04/27/playstation-all-stars-battle-royale-screens-trailer/You'll notice the first problem straight away. It's too similar to Smash Bros. The only problem here is that as Matthew Castle of NGamer puts it the problem with this game Sony is trying to make is that Nintendo perfected the formula with Smash Bros and to change that formula would be to make a broken game for the whole point of being different. But they've got everything. The stages based on characters, items from characters, music from the games, a skill set which is based on attack defense and one to help you from flying off the stage. They even gave the characters a final smash. It looks like it'll be a great game and seeing as I really enjoyed Brawl for the Wii, I don't see why I won't like playing All-Stars for the PS3 (I still don't feel right saying the full title). The only problem though is this one around the originality of the game. I'm not concerned about Nintendo fans because let's face it the fans of all the consoles find excuses to argue amongst each other without games like this.

Looks really strange to me... But probably because I have NO CLUE who the characters are that you fight with. The levels also give me a weird feeling, but again, no exposure to most PS games! XD
I guess I really couldn't say if it would be fun to play. Someone else help me out here! ^^'

Well the character they showed were
Kratos - From the god of war series, a game set in the greek times where Kratos after being tricked into killing he's family heads off for revenge against Ares the god of war (it's all downhill from there, really Kratos is kind of a jerk)
Sweet Tooth - The front character for Twisted Metal. An insane serial killer clown who rides around in an Ice cream van.
Radec - The Soldier guy with the guns. From Killzone, part of a different species of human called Helghast Radec is basically a bodyguard for their leader. It's weird a Killzone character would be in this game though because it's a first person shooter.
Sly Cooper - From the game of the same name, Sly Cooper's a master thief and that is literally all I know.
The Princess - She's from the game Fat Princess, a PSN exclusive. She dosen't actually do anything in the game and you control her villagers, in this her moves involve like King Dedede, you using Villagers to attack people and her "Final Smash" is a bunch of Villagers bursting fourth and knocking anyone caught off the stage.
Parappa the rapper - He's actually the most well known. The PS1 had a game called Parappa the Rapper, a kung fu dog in this singstar style game (before singstar) only it's a QTA event where you press buttons to Parappa's rapping.

I'm not too familiar with Sony-exclusive characters.
But I will say, I don't like how Sony is seemingly ripping off from Nintendo on everything. This is a Brawl rip-off plain and simple. The Playstation Move is the Wii-Mote just designed in a different way. At least Kinect went and decided to use your whole body, not just a remote.
I know you have a PS3 TW, but Sony sucks.

Actually that was the design of the Eye Toy. Sony dosen't rip off everything and they have brilliant ideas, Uncharted, Killzone, Infamous, LittleBigPlanet Etc, The design of the PS3 and not to mention their intergration of 3D, Blu-ray to create an overall media experiance. I find when their original, they make amazing stuff.
Nintendo rip off Sony just as bad, The 3DS' whole AR Card trick was ripped off from Sony who had made it first when they brought out Eye Pet. Everyone rips off everyone. As for this game, I think it is a bit too similar but like I said above it's been said about Brawl that Nintendo did such a good job you couldn't change it too much without making it suck.
If your a Sony fan then it's great to have your own Smash Bros because maybe you don't want to fight with Nintendo characters because your a Sony fan. Plus CS your forgetting that Sonic was also a big name for the Playstation so there's a chance he'll show up for All-Stars. Granted Sony didn't get him when he was in he's prime but still there's always the chance he could show up for this.

Don't foget Eye of Judgement, that is an epic AR card game that helped get the tech off the ground.

He's not a Playstation exclusive then again they are adding non-exclusive characters so maybe you'll get lucky and they'll throw him in there. I'd be surprised if Sonic didn't get a look in, I mean PS Gamers haven't seen him at he's best but he's still a third party character who's had quite a large influence on the Playstation.

Ah, ok then. I only played it on PS1. Loved that game "Ker-shmack!", "Ker-pow!" I loved Fight Night with Flibby the boxing ladybird.

well like I mentioned the game is also featuring third party characters so there's a chance he might appear. I'm hoping Crash, Spyro, Sonic and Ezio get to appear but the problem would be making sure that the third party characters don't outweigh the first party.
In fact the good thing is that DLC will mean that Sony can look back and find out what characters we wanted but didn't get so the whole "Luigi-Shadow" situation won't happen as Sony could have just placed Shadow in as DLC, the people who think there's too many Sonic characters don't download them and people like you who think it'd be cool can. It's Win-Win.
Funnily enough it's Meta Knight that's pissing off the Smash Bros fans now not Sonic, apparently he's too overpowered so the official competitions think he should be banned from them.

Smash Bros for me was a fad; The hype short-lived.

Yeah but I'd like something like that for PS3 and it looks like we won't get it. I really hate the design for this game, their saying you can only win points by knocking people out with Super moves, the super moves go up three levels from a basic super attack to a level 3 attack that can take out everyone.
The problem is that it makes it hard to tell who's winning. I want the percentages from Smash Bros and the ability to take out opponents with normal moves and items, I really liked how you could on on about 150% each, the other guy would have a final smash and then from nowhere you could knock them out with an explosive item. Also their already saying they'll need DLC to get the fan favorites in. Surely those are the guys you put in first.
UPDATE: 14/8/12
They've updated the game's roaster since last time
Big Daddy Cole MacGrath Dante Heihachi Mishima Jak and Daxter Nathan Drake Ratchet and Clank Sackboy Spike Toro Inoue
There's also three other character unconfirmed. Yeah I've been watching this closely mostly in the hopes that they'll have different forms of gameplay

Sorry to double post but I want to settle a score here. Even if they have different powers and play differently Cole MacGrath and Evil Cole MacGrath. SAME PERSON. Right?
