I wanted to put this to a vote becasue I wanted to know what the forum thinks. Basically Saint's Row is this wacky open world game where you play a group of gangsters known as The Saint's Row. The publisher that owns the game THQ recently went bankrupt and the development team and the rights to the game went to Koch Media under the publisher Deep Sliver.
Recently a trailer was released for a fourth game in the series but the thing is, I think this is a really bad move. The last game came out in late 2011. Violition the development team behind the game have already said the fourth game is based on something that was going to be DLC for the third game meaning development must have started Mid-2012 at the latest.
The thing is that leaves the game with at the very least a single year of development time (a record for anyone in gaming and not the good kind). I think the game was rushed for a 2013 release date when Deep Silver found out the new consoles were coming out at the end of the year. Sony have already announced the PS4 and Microsoft are planning their own presentation no doubt to reveal their new XBOX.
I think Deep Silver want to rush this out as soon as possibly but they've gone wrong. The best move for them to make would be to place this on the new consoles, give the development team the time to upgrade to the new consoles and make sure everything works, add some more content to the game and present it as a 2014/2015 PS4/XBOX720 Title (for the purposes of this thread I'm going to refer to the new XBOX as "XBOX 720"
Violition don't have to rush and can make something their proud of, the fans get a game that worth having on a next-gen system and Deep Silver get to have a lot of money without any controversy. After Dead Island, Deep Silver really need to build up some brownie points with the gaming community.
