THEATRE: Chosen Monologue

This is what I must memorize and say in class. Not gonna be easy. It's from Promotheus Bound, an ancient play.

Promotheus:

Bright light, swift-winged winds,
springs of the rivers, numberless
laughter of the sea's waves, earth,
mother of all, and the all-seeing
circle of the sun: I call upon you to see
what I, a god, suffer
at the hands of gods--
see with what kind of torture
worn down I shall wrestle ten thousand
years of time...

You see me, a wretched god in chains,
the enemy of Zeus, hated of all
the gods that enter Zeus' palace hall,
because of my excessive love for Man.

Cool! I actually have to know more than that for monolouges that I do. My fault, really. I make them too long.
Do you have to act it out in character?

Hey, and did you know that in the end, Prometheus is freed from the cliffs by Zeus? Well, now you do.

I've done several pages of monolouges, and they're really easy to learn! Yours should be. It's only 2 paragraphs. If all else fails... IMPROVISE!!!

Well, thankfully, mine only has to be a 1 min long. And I don't think I have to act it out, just say it. Of course, I'll be saying it with feeling, because otherwise it doesn't sound right. XD

And, no, I didn't know that Zeus actually saves Promotheus. I didn't get to read all of it, it was just giving short examples in my Theatre book. I liked it, and I've read some of it, so I chose it. Should be good if I don't get tongue-tied. ;]

You have to practise loads, though. If you do that, then you'll never get tongue tied.
I haven't actually gotten tongue-tied yet.

Well, I did it today, and I never skipped a beat. I knew it, I could say it, and my teacher loved it--he's a big ancient play lover. XD
