More and more notes, ladies and germs. XD
I don't like it, but I gotta to study well with. Test is TOMORROW. Yeah, I should've done this sooner. >_<
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the definition of distress?:
Distress - a negative stress caused by events.
What is the definition of eustress?:
Eustress - a positive stress caused by events.
List and describe the stages of the General Adaptation Syndrome(GAS):
1). Homeostasis - The body systems maintain a stable and balanced state.
2). Alarm - The body initially responds to a stressor with change that lower resistance.
3). Stressor - The stressor may be threatening or exhiliarating.
4). Resistance - If the stressor continues the body mobilizes to withstand the stress and return to normal.
5). Exhaustion - Ongoing, extreme stressors eventually deplete the body's resources so we function at less than normal.
6). Illness & Death - The body's resources are not replenished and/or additional stressors occur; the body suffers breakdowns.
What are the health disorders associated with stress?:
1). Coronary Heart Disease
2). Hypertension
3). Eating Disorders
4). Ulcers
5). Diabetes
6). Asthma
7). Depression
8). Migraine Headaches
9). Sleeping Disorders
10). Chronic Fatigue
11). Possibly Some Cancers
Name common symptoms of stress:
1). Physiological
2). Emotional
3). Behavioral
4). Cognitive
5). High Blood Pressure
6). Importance
7). Dizziness
8). Irritation/Anger/Hosility
9). Restlessness/Fears/Panic/Anxiety
10). Headaches
11). Muscular Aches
12). Grinding Teeth
13). Nervous Ticks
14). Increased Sweating
15). Change in Appetite
16). Insomnia
17). Nightmares
18). Fatigue
19). Poor Concentration
20). Rapid Heart Rate
What effects does stress have on the body?:
1). Brain becomes more alert
2). Digestive system slows down
3). Heart rate increases and blood pressure rises
4). Adrenal glands produce stress hormones
5). Breathing quickens
6). Immune system is depressed
7). Digestive system slows down
8). Reproductive systems malfunction
9). Muscles tense
Describe the Type A & B personalities:
Type A - agressors, hard driven, competitive, hostile, mistrustful, suffers from stress.
Type B - easy going, patient, lower levels of distress, laid back, same ambition as Type A but not expressed to others, not as hostile, less likely to have heart problems.
What effects does stress have on the digestive system?:
1). Ulcers
2). Overeating
3). Eating on the run
What's the best ways to defuse stress?:
1). Plan Ahead
2). Be Positive
3). Take Regular Breaks
4). Practice
5). Talk to Others
6). Be Satisfied With Doing Your Best! :]
What can help you relax?:
1). Visualization - an approach to stress control, self-healing or motivating life changes by means of guided, or directed, imagery. Requires practice and, in some cases, instruction by qualified health professionals.
2). Meditation - A group of approaches that are quiet sitting, breaking techniques and chanting to relax, improve concentration and become attuned to one's inner self. Meditators usually have better health, and they easily block outer stress.
3). Biofeedback - A technique of becoming aware, with the aid of external monitoring devices, of internal physiological activities in order to develop the capability of altering them. Allows individuals to gain some control over body temperature, heart rate, muscle tension and brain waves.

I'll work more on this later. I covered what I needed for one chapter. When I come back, I'll cover the rest.
(Btw... Isn't that an awful lot stress can do to you? @_@)
