Amy walked down the left of the escalator. She was in the department store, getting some clothes for Spear since he needed new shirts and jeans. Pronto. “Geez. Why can’t Spear do his own clothes shopping? Oh yeah he’s sick…not. Faker,” She walked into the next shop and went towards the men’s shirts. “Ok Spear is a 14” She went through the shirts and found two size 14s. One in blue, one in white. She then put them in the basket and went to the jeans and picked out two that were Spear’s size. She decided to go to the counter and pay up.
She left the shop after having bought everything. When she got out she saw a big circle. She went over and saw a hedgehog and a guy fighting, shouting verbal insults at each other and generally having a go. The guy swung his fist round and smacked the hedgehog in the cheek, making him stumble back. “Isn’t this animal cruelty?” Amy asked someone, they just shrugged back. The girl felt that she had to do something. The guy punched the yellow hedgehog in the stomach. Then started beating him to death. Two policemen came over, they broke up the fight. Gradually people fled the scene. Amy found herself glued to the floor, the now bloody hedgehog lying at her feet. It grasped her trousers and attempted at pulling itself up to no avail. Amy crouched down and petted it’s wounded ear. An officer came over and asked Amy what had happened. “I didn’t see much, though the guy was laying into this hedgehog, giving him no time to defend himself.” The officer wrote these things down on a pad. “Now, did you see how this happened?” He asked her seriously "
No, I didn’t.” Amy replied
“Thank you Miss” He then departed. The hedgehog’s emerald eyes looked at her with thankfulness.
“You ok?” Amy whispered, the hedgehog coughed a bit of blood up and then spoke “Yeah, thanks.”
“Do you want me to take you home? Hospital? Anywhere?” She asked.
“I lack a home, since mine was destroyed” He struggled to say, without coughing a bit more.
“I’ll take you back to mine, Spear and I will look after you.” Amy told him. She picked him up and then grasped her bags and walked out, people staring at her and the hedgehog.
Back at home, the hedgehog was lying idly on the sofa, a blanket covering him and his head nestled into a pillow, he was near a warm fire.
Amy was upstairs, trying things on Spear to see if they fitted.
Thankfully they all did. “Why the heck Amy is that hedgehog here? I’m the only hedgehog in this house!” Spear complained
“He lacks residence, and he’s hurt, when he heals everything will be fine” Amy went downstairs to tend to the injured hog. “You ok now?”
“Yeah” He could hardly speak.
“Can I have your name?”
“zzzzzZZZzzzzzZZZZ” The yellow hedgehog snored.
“Ok then” Amy sat down in an armchair, the fire illuminated the left side of her face. She watched his chest rise and lower, it repeated this process. She smiled. A bang outside, the yellow hedgehog bolted upright. His chest rose and lowered faster. He coughed up more blood, which stained the covers. “IT’S HERE!” The hedgehog screamed, “The decimator of all” The hedgehog hid under the covers.
“Wha?
“Decimator?” Outside a burning flash. A crackle of fire and then a smog was produced.
“That thing, nearly burnt me to death. Killed my friend living with me. It’s coming now” The crackle became quieter and quieter. Soon it was gone. “So. This thing is after you?” A silent nod.
“It’s gone now” He sighed.
“I wanna know your name”
“No.” He stated simply.
“Why not?”
“It is still around.” A scream from upstairs, a burning smell.
“No! the house is on fire!”
Outside the top of Amy’s house was engulfed in flames. Spear, was still up there.
Amy ran upstairs, dodging a few falling beams and holes in the stairs. She crashed through the door of Spear’s room and found the silver hedghog, with black soot on him. He had been cornered by the ever-growing fire. Amy waded through the fire, earning a few burns herself, though she was not gonna lose Spear to an “out-of-the-blue fire”. She craned her arms over the fire and then pulled Spear over and onto her back. “Ok out now” The thick smoke was coming down, restricting the space that Amy had. She smashed the window and then proceeded with jumping out. She landed perfectly. "The hedgehog is still in the livng room." She flung herself through the living room window and then saw the fire creeping downstairs. She pulled the cover back to see the hedgehog trembling. He whispered. “It has found me”
“I don’t care, lets get out now” Amy helped him out the window, the fire, travelled closer towards the girl, like it was attracted to her. Amy climbed out of the window. Neighbours came out of their houses. “It’s going into the kitchen, quickly, before it hits the gas supply” Amy made everyone shuffle back. A screech then a light wheezing sound. The roof fell in and then the second floor collapsed bringing the entire house down to it’s knees.
“It found me……and nearly killed me” The yellow hedgehog grew orange stripes on it’s arms and ruby red eyes. “I too am of the fire family. It wants to kill me”
“Why does it want to kill you?”
“It wants my power” The yellow and orange hedgehog explained.
