I watched this movie today because my dad presented it to my view. This is an older movie, but it sure shows you and teaches you the value of peace.
This movie is based on the usage of nuclear bombs. In the movie, the Soviet Union and the United States threw nuclear bombs onto each other. This movie was filmed in Kansas, so that's where the people in the movie were. Anyways, many people were destroyed in this attack. This movie even showed the side effects of what radiation did to the exposed people. At the end of the movie, it tells you that a real nuclear bomb would do far much more damage and radiation effects were even more severe than what it "showed".
This movie, frankly, made me wonder. What if the world was one day destroyed by nuclear missles? In each missles, ten nuclear bombs came out of it. And in the movie, the United States and the Soviet Union released 300 nuclear missles - THAT'S A LOT OF DAMAGE!!!
So, for all mankind's sake, let's all pray that this movie doesn't ever become reality. Many people are probably saying, "This would never be allowed." Yet, anything can happen.

That's the purpose of the U.N. They try to negotiate peacefully so that we don't end up destroying ourselves and the planet.
As long as there are humans there will always be war. In the natural world, there is no such thing as boundless slaughter--there is always an end to it. But the path we walk on has no end, every step we take will be littered with the corpses of our enemies, we shall have no peace.
But is there such thing as an absolute timeless enemy? No. There never has been and never will be. The reason being that our "enemies" are humans, just-like-us.

I just hope that humans of all races can come to know one another. I'm not saying it will, I'm saying it should. It may never happen or it someday may - I don't know for sure. But, I do know that if we tried harder to know each other and stop arguing about other people's religions, beliefs and races, then we may have had the term "world peace". Hopefully, we'll maintain enough peace to keep the world safe from nuclear wars too.

It won't, trust me on that one. It won't. But people like you FM5, you make the world a more interesting place to live in. Me on the other hand, I am just an on-looker. I've seen the inside of war, I know what it's like to be in a battlefield.
In war, all of mankind's worst traits, worst emotions come out. It's easy to froget what a 'sin' is on the battlefield.

That's easy. We wanted more land, more resources to. The only way we could get that was to invade another's territory.

Humans always are. We can't share, we have to tkae everything for ourselves. We can't just let others live how they want to live. That is why we get terrorists like Al Quaeda fighting in the name if Islam and such. That is why Christians persecuted everyone in the past, the slaughtered men, women, children and even animals for no reason whatsoever--all in the name of God.

Humans do share more than any other creature, even if the above is true

No they don't. Every living thing only exists to mindlessly pass on their DNA. Our genes determine our fate, look at mine--they took a blood test and they identified more than 60 Soldier Genes that were responsible for everything from Strategic Thinking down to the proverbial 'Killer Instinct'. Therefore, I am good at fighting.

Maybe. But there are so many things that aren't passed down in DNA. We have to teach these things to our children, we have to teach them there's more to life than just passing on your DNA. We can teach them about poetry; stories; luaghter; having fun; feeling sad; having faith; what we had faith in.
Nobody really quite knows who or what they are, the memories you have and the role you were assigned are burdens you have to carry. it doesn't matter if they were real or not, that's never the point. In the end it doesn't matter whether what we believed in was real or not, but the amount of faith we were willing to have--that decides the future.
