Ok, I'm back with more art. I finally managed to get everything I wanted to do done.
I'll put everything in order of when I did it (since some of these were done a long time ago).
In Yu-Gi-Oh GX, the dorms are named after the Three Egyptian God cards that Yugi, Kaiba and Marik primarily controlled. The lowest is Slifer Red (Yugi), then Ra Yellow (Marik) in the middle and Obelisk Blue (Kaiba) is the highest dorm. (Kaiba created the school, just for further information)
Amy enters the fic as a lowly Slifer, and because Amy's dream is to become the best dragon duelist in the world she's pretty pissed at this. But she soon learns to adapt.
Now, for the story surrounding the upcoming picture.
In one of the chapters, a lot focuses around the love/hate relationship between Chazz Princeton (one of the characters; an anti-hero of sorts) and Amy herself. Both are extremely stubborn and long story short, Chazz makes Amy's designs become a reality because he's part of Princeton Corps a.k.a rich.
As time goes on, and we go into the second fic
(which I've nearly finished)
Amy manages to get a dorm upgrade to Ra Yellow. Still utilising the idea she had, she attaches the upgrades onto a Ra Yellow blazer instead.
The one thing I do wish to note is that both designs are based on the male uniforms. That's because they're easier to draw and I personally hate the female uniforms provided because I view them as quite bland.
And now onto the 'Spirit Partners'. To explain, some characters (namely Jaden, Chazz and Jesse in the true canon anime) have the ability to see and communicate with duel monsters and have one or two 'Spirit Partners'. They're specific monsters in the duelists deck that become allies and in some ways could be viewed as pets. It's hard to explain. Over the course of the fics, Amy gets
two - Hunter Dragon and Empress of Dragons- Alimandra.
Hunter Dragon has been drawn twice because the original picture (which I'm just about to put up) was not how I imagined Hunter Dragon to be. Spirit Partners are generally small and compact so they can float or sit on their human partner's shoulder and have low attack and/or defense points.
This is Hunter Dragon Version 1
There are several things I wish to note about Hunter Dragon.
1. The card DOES EXIST (feel free to do a basic search), but I altered the appearance of him to coincide with the whole 'cutesy' thing going on with Spirit Partners. And because the real Hunter Dragon has a spike for a chin and that wouldn't have worked.
2. He looks far too big, opposite to what I had in mind.
3. The legs and feet aren't what I wanted. Hunter Dragon's legs (as you'll see in the next picture) are more thin and talon-like.
4. The shading isn't spectacular.
However, I did another one (which I just finished five minutes before this post) and it's much better.
This is closer to what Hunter Dragon looks like, it's pretty exact to be fair.
I wanted to try a more dynamic pose, in which it looked like something was happening, not just standing there like a profile. He certainly does live up to his name in this picture and I'm far more impressed with this one than the previous. You can see the differences between them easily.
He looks smaller.
His feet and legs are as they're meant to be.
He looks a bit 'cuter' than the previous picture.
Imagine that speaking in a hammy Southern American accent (don't pronounce t's and d's) and being a generally playful character.
Hunter Dragon has 1700 attack, 100 defense and his move is Jagged Jaw Sabre. Just for a bit of extra information.
Now, my last picture is of Amy's second Spirit Partner who provides a welcome contrast to the normally playful Hunter Dragon. I haven't fully sorted out Alimandra's backstory (and it hasn't been resolved in the fics yet) so no information there.
I have a few criticisms which I'll elaborate on after the picture.
1. She looks male; I tried to accentuate the eyes while looking at female characters from the anime and it didn't turn out well.
2. I had huge difficulty with the colour scheme. I always had black or grey in my head, but I kept seeing
The Supreme King
and didn't want that so I went with a marron colour.
Otherwise I love the armour and put a lot of time into detail (the gauntlets were annoying as...). Overall it's ok. Tt does its job which is give me a physical thing to look at and imagine while I'm writing.
Now for disclaimers.
I don't own the original concept art for the Slifer and Ra blazers.
I don't own the original concept of Hunter Dragon (although I do own the adapted version).

And now enjoy. I feel like a wrote a bloody essay.
