this is also what your send result should look like.
Ok firstly get your original sketch, now create a new blank layer over the sketch and name it lining.
Now grab your pen tool, is you have not used this tool before you may want to take some time to get used to it.
The pen tool is very useful, to use it click where you want to start the line then click where you want to finish the line, now you should have a straight line from point a to b, now click somewhere in the middle of the line, you should see a 3 little squares appear (these are called anchors.) Now hold control click on the middle anchor and drag, now go to paths pallet, (also the layer palette) at the bottom of the pallet you should see a small white circle with a black ground, this is the stroke button, click this and delete the path (make sure the colour chosen at the moment is black and that the brush size it 2 to 4 pixels, 4 pxls is the most comely used). the result should look something like this.

now do this around all of your lines of your pic.
…. Done? ^_^
You pic should look something like this now
img.photobucket.com/albums/v243/grayal/pened-in.jpg
now the fun starts. ^^
now delete your sketch layer and create a new layer, name it BG and fill it with a colour or gradient.
Now grap your magic wand tool (no innuendo there ^_- ) go back to your lining layer and select one bit you want to colour.
Now, when you use the magic wand tool it will alwase select one pixle too short to go to select>modify>expand, expand by 1 pixel
img.photobucket.com/albums/v243/grayal/strokepath.jpg
now go back to your cloured layer keeping your selection, go to layer>new>new layer by copy now name the layer and fill it with a solid colour, do this for the whole pic.
It could look like this now
img.photobucket.com/albums/v243/grayal/fullycolored.jpg
now for the shading, this is my favourite part.
Create new layers over the existing colour layers. Now select a darker colour, like so
img.photobucket.com/albums/v243/grayal/shadeingcolour.jpg
note that I selected a colour a colour diaganal from my original colour.
Now use the laso tool to select an area you want to shade. I use the laso tool just for guidance. Now select a brush size and change the opacity to 50%. When applying the shading make sure that the brush doesn’t touch the sides of the selection (like I said before used for guidance)
For lighting use the technique just with lighter tones
No do this for the rest of the pic and the you are done
This is what you should get.
