yeah right, the biggest excuse for a game i've seen.
Mario is far superior to sonic.
He has tons of great games (though mario party and mario kart are getting old now), he's an ok character on brawl and genral tons better then sonic.

Yeah but there will be some games which are better than Mario. I find it weird. Am I the only person here who is willing to stand up for Sonic against this escapade of Mario... LOVERS!?!?!?! Sonic still has his time. He still has his golden ticket to shine. Once he uses it, he will totally overide Mario.

sonic's over with CS15, he had he's chance and he blew it. Mario games are tons better as they're clearly more ORIGINAL, sonic team seem to think if they chuck another new character in to the forumula then everything will be ok.
I'm not a mario lover, I'M A SONIC HATER! Though i must edmit sonic will be good in brawl.

Sonic still has his chance! He can make everyone LOVE him again if he can just pull out that game! I believe that Sonic will get more fans than ever before. Sonic RPG will and can be his chance to truly shine!

yes that may be true but mario fans will remain loyal, if sonic fans leave the game franchies when it needed them the most when what does that say about sonic fans?

this is sonic fans in general, much like how sonic fans don't like sonic heroes.
I just think mario games these days have a much better quality then sonic games, compare super mario galaxy to Sonic and the secret rings NO CONTEST MARIO'S BETTER!

yeah but compare it to MARIO GALAXY and you can tell there has been much more work put into super mario galaxy.
by the way can someone say who's winning this as it would be unfair if i decided who won the debate.

Mario may seem like a retard but look at the facts
- mario is worth more then sonic - mario has about 5 running games series that consists of
1) mario sport 2) mario party 3) mario kart 4) new super mario bros 5) The main mario games
- SMG made more money then SATSR - Super mario is the most recognised games character - Sonic's newer games are shunned by most people including some SONIC FANS!

I'm going to give my views and then decide who wins the debate! ;]
I've been both a loyal Mario AND Sonic fan ever since I discovered at least one game from both. With Mario, I started off with the Super Mario World for the SNES. I love that game, and I can still play it over and over. And, my all-time favorite Mario game is Super Mario World RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars for SNES, closely following is Paper Mario: the Thousand-Year Door for GameCube. I have the SNEs, N64, Gamecube and Wii, so I think it's save for me to say that I have all the greatest Mario hit games.
With Sonic, I started out with SA2: Battle on the GameCube. That was THE very first Sonic game I've ever played, and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. Then I got Sonic Adventure, and that has come out to be my absolute favorite Sonic game thus far. I've continued with the Sonic games, even got Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic and the Secret Rings. Honestly, with SA and SA2, there was so much more storyline and idea originality. SHadow the Hedgehog has turned out to be all right, just with a very complex way of getting to the levels, which can be severely repetitive at times. And other games, like Sonic Heroes or Sonic and the Secret Rings, they were ok games far as gameplay goes, but the storyline and character personalities have greatly dropped compared to that of Mario. With Mario Galaxy, it seems Nintendo has tried enhancing his personality and motives. With Sonic Team, it seems like they're not putting forth enough effort. Now, if it were me writing, let's say, Sonic and the Secret Rings, I would've tried making that the most awesome game ever, even better than SA or SA2. I can think of ideas right now that could make it tons better, and much more mature and exciting.
I think that's the problem here. Mario has at least tried covering all age range in his games, while Sonic's age range has began dropping. Yeah, Shadow the Hedgehog has a gun in his game, and says a few swear words(lol), but that's not what I mean. I mean... All the Sonic games need depth of personality, and appropriate attitudes of the characters. Was it Sonic Heroes? Yeah, I think so, where Sonic is supposed to be 16 or something? I'm sorry, but a 16 year-old male is no where near as "cheesy" as he expresses in Sonic Heroes. And, not just that, but where is the originality? Yeah, Sonic and the Secret Rings was original all right, but it lacked... Well, it made Sonic look like he was the key to everything, having no struggles or hardships really, and the secondary characters weren't really given a storyline of their own. That's what Sonic games NEED--an all-around storyline, even for villains. And new villains even, worthy to be opponents of the speedy hedgehog.
There is one Sonic game I've come to like for the Wii. It's simple to beat, but it is a good game in my perspective. NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams is a rather good game, a Sonic-character from the past is brought back. I haven't had the pleasure of playing NiGhts Into Dreams, the original game, but I've enjoyed this one. It has a younger personality to it too, BUT... It suites it more this time since it involves 10-12 year old kids as the characters, Helen and Will, that you play as. So, the younger attitudes of the characters fit, it makes sense as they learn the weakness and strengths of their hearts.
Mario has changed a lot, but has never lost the age-range feel. Mario is always right in personality, but lately he's become more "animated" in expressing his emotions and such with Mario Galaxy. If the creators of the characters put forth effort, and start bringing more into the storyline for both series of games, they both will be alive for a LOOOOOOONG time! And i'll still be a loyal fan. :]
I say Mario has won this debate. Of course, though, I still love Sonic games too. And I am eager to see both Mario and Sonic in Brawl. ^_^
