i doubt it.
There might be mission where mario and sonic have to face each other, the player choosing either mario or sonic and one of them i've seen is called WARIO BROS.

Hold on, You'd unlock Shadow Moses Island with, or after you have Snake. You shouldn't be able to play on his stage until you unlock him. To unlock characters, you also must have seen them on the Subspace Emmissisary first. So play that mode first unless you have a party of 4 round.
