Its because unlike a normal game, there is absolutly loads to do. Leveling up your characters, doing Instances(dungeons with enemies designed to be killed by groups of players), quests, such an expansive world with detail and different classes and races(they even have books, good books!) and it's always different. The real part that makes it awesome is the people. Real humans playing all over the internet. Trading with one another, teaming up with others to battle high level opponants, it's all fun. And there are battlegrounds where the Horde go against the Alliance in huge PVP battlegrounds for honour and marks that can be spent on better gear. It's awesome!

i have one idea YOU HAVE NO LIFE! Seriously i played it, it's just like the other online mulitplayer games only you have to pay. Any game that you have to pay monthly for is not worth paying and i don't care who dishes out their insults at me because you know it's true!
Seriously unless about 5 people in your house play on it then it's not worth it. WOW is lame and i can prove that it's dangrous
- one man murdered because two people decided to have a "real WOW battle" - two parents negelcted their baby for 8 HOURS! By then it had died - one man died after playing WOW for 50 hours stright
Seriously why do you people want to pay monthly for a game that you could be getting for free? It's just one big con.

I find WoW and most RPGs in general to be quite drab and boring (with the exception of the paper mario series and chrono trigger) I can see the appeal of it, and I can see it's partly addictive because IT NEVER ENDS.
I also noticed the fact that the last 3 posts have less to do with world of warcraft than my gaming record.
