Greg and I parted, and unravelled our ropes and soon Greg had disappeared behind the thick bushes.
I was on my own, alive with highlighted fear and traumatized with anxiety. “Oh well.” I whispered to myself. “Better than being autistic like Jett…” I carried on walking, leaving the cotton trail behind me.
It must have been an hour, my stomach was rumbling, and I had no signals from Greg, no sign of life, only the natural path that lay ahead and behind me. “Oh bother… I think… This maze is pointless.” I decided finally as I looked back at my trail. Then I looked back in front of me to find Amy. “Ahh! Holy merciless!” I shouted automatically. “You’re funny!” Amy giggled. “From what part of Hell did you just get spat out from?” I asked angrily. “Level 2.” Amy replied. “You’ve read my dad’s work!” I shouted in disgust.
My father has written tons of private work, his work has been to do with the mythological Heaven and Hell, as well as the Gods of the Earth, which includes nearly every teaching. My dad is the last pure bred of his royal family line, then he married my mum and that spoilt everything…
“I hate you, go away.” I tried to stay firm. “Well I really like you!” She says approaching me, I back off with alarm and fall into a bush. She giggles and runs away… She’s mental…

I stood up and brushed off the dead leaves and dirt. I looked around and picked up my string. Greg still hadn’t sent anything. I was beginning to worry about his safety. I looked back, and then edged back in the direction. “Don’t go down there!” Amy was behind me, smiling. “Follow me!” “Sorry.” I said turning to face her. “My horoscopes told me to not follow psychopathic little girls.” “Oh don’t be mean… I found Greg…” She smiles. Oh bother, what to do… “I doubt.” I reply in anger and frustration. “I don’t…” She looks at me with puppy eyes, as though trying to lure me… And to my annoyance it was working. I sighed and followed her, unravelling the string as I went.
Soon I came across some red string on the floor as I came to a crossroad. It was trailing from left to right. I picked it up to find it had been cut. “Where’s Greg?” I asked in anger. “He was just here…” Amy smiled evilly. “Yeah I know that!” I shouted whilst throwing the string to the floor. “Where is he? What happened?” I snarled. “If you gimme a kiss I will tell you.” Amy replied, I growled… What was I to do? Instead I took my chances and fled to the left. It made sense because right would lead me back to the house… It was in that sort of direction.
I ran and ran and ran. There was nothing in front of me, nothing behind me, just walls leading me to a dead end. I stopped as the wall of leaves blocked my path. I growled in anger… Why did the string come in this direction? Greg neither went nor came from this direction…
I looked behind myself, where a tall figure loomed over me, my heart paused with fear as sun shadowed him, and all I could see was his arm raise above his head. I gasped in fear and stepped back…

I was merely startled, but it didn’t top the lash of fear that whipped me in my mind. “Forget about the blasted bush!” I told myself in panic. That’s when I simply jumped through the thick hedges, straight through about two; I scratched the back of my arms as I used them to shield my face from the thorns. Then I landed straight on top of Greg.
“Ziggy!” Greg shouted in surprise as he pushed me off of him. “What are you doing?” He asked in annoyance. “I was – I was… I was being chased by some mad man!” I gasped for breath, not caring whether the sentence made sense. “What?” Greg asked with sudden concern. He then picked me up and showed me the exit of the maze. We heard noises behind us, and without looking back we fled the infernal warren.
We ended up in their second garden, looking over the third. And to our fortune we found our mother sipping lemonade with Mrs. Fater. We knew we weren’t allowed in the second garden, due to the flowers and crops that were growing, a large sign was posted out side the conservatory window stated so. The actual sign made me think of those ‘for sale’ signs.
Greg and I sighed, we had to go back into the maze, I had dropped my string and Greg’s had been cut. “What are we going to do now? I asked in a whisper. “Err… Climb down the ivy over there, and make it look as though we have just come back from that lake…” Greg suggested. “Or you boys could go to the lake…” A voice said behind us. Greg and I turned slowly. “Oh Kevin, you’ve found the boys!” Daniel shouted in delight. And the figure behind us was our father, with a rather annoyed look. “Sorry…” Greg and I muttered. “How did you know we were here?” I asked. “A little birdie told me.” Kevin pointed to Chester who was sitting in the conservatory shaking. Greg and I sighed; feeling like a disappointment is horrible.
And so it was, Greg, Chester, Jett and I all had to go down to the lake with Amy, Eric, Mark and my father. It was just a punishment I think, but there was some history behind it. I think.
The lake was quite beautiful, the sun hit its surface and reflected in all its glory, the water wasn’t exactly clear, but then again it wasn’t badly intoxicated. We sat on the edge of the lake, a meter above the water in fact, because there was no real way of getting to the lake, no steep leading there… Just a sharp short drop, then that leads to no way out. But that lead to a whole new issue…
Jett’s afraid of dogs. End of discussion. His mighty fear against any canine has been well known throughout my family, and it started when he was small, as he watched his dad defend him from a pit bull terrier. The fear of it happening again is all that remains from that savage memory, and as well as watching it being put to sleep
Amy was a naughty girl, she knows about Jett’s incredible fear of dogs, so she decides to bring a full grown Rottwieler. His name is Cody, and he is a guard dog. I met him the previous night, but Jett didn’t…
She appeared from behind a bush, holding tightly to the dog’s chain lead. It looked over at Jett and barked loudly and angrily. With that Jett stepped back, his heel hung over the edge, Amy ‘accidentally’ let go of the chain and Cody moved forward, Jett fell back off the ledge and straight into the water. I immediately took hold of his hand as I fell, and I too was dragged over and under.
Under the water is a totally different story to what lies on top. I opened my eyes, still under the water, to find rotting animal corpses and bones. I turned to face Jett who took one glance at them and passed out. Oh great…
My father suddenly plummeted through the surface of the water, and picked both of us out, he took my arm and placed it on his shoulder, and I clambered till I was safely on his back, Jett however he held with his right hand. With only one arm and two legs, he climbed the rock face.
Traumatized as I was… I didn’t want to breath…
